An excellent opportunity for a Business Change Manager to join a project for one of the UK's biggest utilities company. The project is a rollout of devices to all field engineers within the company.

Business Change Manager - Rollout of Devices
4 Month Contract initially
Portsmouth, Hampshire

A Business Change Manager is required to join the project delivery team, working alongside the IT Project Manager, a number of external trainers and reporting directly to the Business Project Manager.

The company employs field based teams of Contract engineers in order to maintain/improve our network infrastructure These field based operatives will be provided with smart phones and tablet computers, and the company is currently undergoing a business transformation programme to exploit this new technology and modernise the existing operating processes.

As part of this business transformation, a recent capital project has been approved to deliver Tablets & Smartphones to all of our existing Replacement and Connections Contracting partners.

The project will involve:
" Liaising/coaching senior stakeholders within circa. 30 different Contract organisations
" Planning & overseeing the rollout of a suitable training programme to circa. 600 contractors operatives/users
" Develop and deliver suitable agreed processes to ensure the security & integrity of all devices supplied to Contractors.
" Ensure that Contractors are fully engaged and supportive of this project
" Realise the full benefits to Contractors adopting the new technology now available via these new devices.

Position Description

The Business Change Manager will play a key role in identifying and developing the change initiatives required in order to meet objectives on time and on budget of full adoption and usage of the new devices by all of our Contractors operatives. This person will focus on the people side of change - including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organisation structures. The primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximise Contractor adoption and usage and minimise any operator/user resistance.

While the Business Change Manager does not have direct supervisory responsibility, this person will oversee the development of a suitable training package, then produce/co-ordinate a detailed rollout plan for the external trainers. The Business Change Manager will act as a coach for senior Contract leaders and executives in helping them fulfil their roles within this Business Change. The Business Change Manager may also provide direct support and coaching to front-line and Contract managers as they help their direct reports through transitions.

Roles and responsibilities:
" Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities to ensure both Business Readiness and Third party readiness
" Assess the change impact
" Complete change management assessments
" Create change management strategy
" Identify, analyse, prepare risk mitigation tactics
" Identify and manage anticipated resistance
" Consult and coach project teams
" Create actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan.
" Integrate change management activities into project plan
" Develop and manage a network of Business Champions in each Depot to assist with the device roll-out and subsequent administration

Skills and qualifications:
" A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process.
" Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.
" Able to work effectively at all levels in an organisation.
" Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.
" Acute business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges.
" Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle, including agile methodologies.
" Experience with large-scale organisational change efforts.
" Change management certification or designation desired.
" Experience of the Utilities Sector is desirable, as is experience of working on change projects incorporating the deployment of mobile technologies.

Some travel in the UK will be required.
