Job DescriptionJob Description - Body Engineering Manager
Reports to - Product Line Director
To work as part of the Research and Development Engineering Team to Manage and steer a dynamic body engineering group across multiple challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities include
" Develop & Deploy body engineering strategies including technical content, defining suitable work scopes and timing plans.
" Technical support & guidance for the following disciplines:
o Body Structures
o Closures, Mechs, & Glass
o Body Exteriors
o Interior Trim
o Safety Restraints
o Optical Quality
" To advise all aspects of component manufacturing & construction methodology.
" To take responsibility for innovative concepts generation using advanced up-front proof of concept techniques.
" To take responsibility for CAE/FEA development & correlation path.
" To take responsibility and Support initial targets and design concepts using design optimisation process.
" To take responsibility for advanced materials investigations with non-traditional applications.
" To take responsibility for identifying issues, generating visual documentation, and escalating where necessary to Product Line Directors.
" To work closely with Vehicle, Powertrain, & Electrical Engineering groups and project managers for collaborative and concurrent development.
" To take responsibility to develop and accurately maintain working standards and best practices.
" Degree in Mechanical/Automotive or equivalent discipline, 2.1 or above. MSc is desirable.
" Strong CAD modelling & geometry creation skills using Catia V5/V6.
" Broad experience in full vehicle development from concept to production.
" Experience in virtual simulation methodologies.
" Advanced analysis and innovative problem solving techniques
" Possess wide knowledge of vehicle design and association with detailed vehicle attributes.
