We are currently recruiting an Application Project Manager reporting to the Application Programme Manager. The base location for this role will be Portsmouth. These positions will attract a personal contract, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Application Project Manager will have excellent exposure to the full Application lifecycle.

The Application Project Manager is responsible for managing the successful delivery of a programme of work which could consist of a number of medium to large projects, portfolios of projects, within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver specified customer requirements. To achieve this, the Application Project Manager must ensure that the management and support for each project is adequate. Project progress, budget, risks, issues and variances must be actively managed. The IT change activity is organised into a number of different programmes of delivery, each lead by a programme manager with a number of supporting project managers.

As an Application Project Manager your key responsibilities will include:
" Full end to end project management of medium to large, complex IT projects and/or workstreams adhering to agreed methodologies and standards (Lean, Prince 2, Agile & ITIL)
" Stakeholder engagement and management
" Responsible for definition, documentation and safe execution
" Preparing and maintaining realistic project and quality plans
" Effectively estimating, tracking, controlling and reporting on costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project to the agreed scope
" Monitoring performance against budget and plan, and taking action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
" Managing risks, issues and dependencies including the development of contingency plans
" Liaising with the management team and/or Project Board
" Management of both on and off-shore 3rd party development, driving them to deliver whilst maintaining a good relationship

You will be a candidate of high calibre with a strong experience managing projects/workstreams, hold an ITIL Foundation qualification and as Prince2 practitioner you will have a solid understanding of a system's development life cycle. Previous experience of contract negotiations, running ITT's RFP's and defining statements of work is essential.

This busy role requires an ability to adapt to and balance a wide range of activities and demands; therefore you must be well-organised, able to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and highly attentive to detail. The role requires the ability to effortlessly motivate individuals and teams, and be assertive or persuasive as the situation demands whilst also remaining approachable. As the role will involve travel, you must have a valid driving licence and be willing to spend time away from your primary location.
