A global automotive tier 1 supplier who specialise in whole powertrain systems are looking for an applications engineer to get involved with a number of engine component development programmes for a variety of automotive clients. The company operate globally and are considered one of the top 3 tier-1 suppliers in the world.

As an applications engineer you will be responsible for supporting the mass production of ignition components and systems by creating pre-development discussions with customers as well as providing full lifecycle test & validation support to the testing programmes. This will involve liaising with customers to document their requirements, before creating a specification for the designers at the overseas HQ to follow. You will then create tests and instructions for the technicians to go away and carry out. You will monitor your test programmes closely before analysing data and reporting back to the customer (the customer could be internally).

Ideally, you will be currently working in a similar role within either an OEM, Tier 1 or a Consultancy on either gasoline or diesel engine systems. You will be a confident character who has a strong knowledge of spark ignition systems and have a good understanding of engineering principles overall. You may also be a PhD qualified engineer who is looking for their first big break in the industry.

Skills/Knowledge;

- A degree is essential! Ideally in an engineering discipline.
- A solid knowledge of engine systems and component engineering would also put you at a distinct advantage.
- A good knowledge of diesel/gasoline engine systems would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with a 3D CAD package, i.e. Catia V5 or NX.
- A strong communicator who can represent the client in front of the customers.
- Fluency in German or Japanese would also put you at a distinct advantage.
- A sound understanding of engine combustion.

You will be joining a small team of 3 engineers and be managing a joint portfolio of around 30 automotive clients. The position involves a certain amount of travelling of around 5 days per month. This could be to a number of different European countries but duration is likely to be 1-2 days at a time.
