Home-grown talent: Harry McWhirr

Company News
Home-grown talent is part of our DNA. Developing careers is not just important for the employers and candidates we place – but for our people too

When the word ‘apprentice’ is mentioned a few misconceptions often pop up: inexperience, ill-equipped, a drain on resource… Our experience at ARM proves that those misconceptions couldn’t be further from the truth.

Take for example Harry McWhirr, fresh from the shelves of Morrisons. Harry has hit the ground running and proven that (with the right attitude and support) success is well within reach. In fact, he was even awarded ARM’s coveted ‘Employee of the Quarter’ award after just five months of service. You can find out more about his journey so far below.

When did you join ARM?

[Harry:] June 2021

What’s your job role?

My job title is a Junior Account Consultant and I am currently on the apprenticeship scheme here.

What are your main responsibilities?

My main responsibilities are to source CVs for roles – and I am also building relationships with existing clients within the Biomass and Chemical industry, picking up roles and sourcing candidates.

This is your first recruitment job – what did you do before?

Previously I worked at Morrison’s in the Horndean store as a Home Delivery Customer Assistant, picking customers’ items for their orders!

What’s your biggest achievement (ARM) so far?

My biggest achievement at ARM is being awarded Employee of The Quarter for Q3 in my first full quarter within the business!

What’s next for you – what are your career goals?

One of my career goals is to complete the apprenticeship and progress through the levels here at ARM and one day manage my own team within the business.

What do you enjoy most about your job and working for ARM?

I would say I enjoy speaking with different candidates and clients every day as everybody you speak to has a different background and each conversation you have is unique.
