When did you join ARM?
I joined ARM on the 6th of September 2021
What’s your job role?
I am an Account Consultant within the Sea-going side of the Maritime industry.
What are your main responsibilities?
My main responsibilities include: Building a pool of candidates that are able to join all different vessel types including Dredgers, Oil Tankers, LPG and LNG, Multi-purpose/survey vessels, cruises and more.
I call as many people as I can every day in order to have a diverse candidate base ready to join ships. I Interview to my candidates to qualify them against the roles I am seeking for and if successful (and if they’re happy to be put forward,)
I send them to the client to await feedback, If successful I then arrange them to interview with the client (if necessary.) I fill a lot more contract roles than perm roles as there is more demand within the contract side of Seagoing.
Building connections on LinkedIn is important to my role as it grows my candidate base.
This is your first recruitment job? – what did you do before?
This is my first recruitment position, I left college in July and the two other positions I had alongside college which was a Cleaning position and a Retail position.
How did you get this job?
I had my heart set on getting an apprenticeship so I kept looking for an opportunity that I thought would suit me – Recruitment sounded very rewarding.
What’s your biggest achievement (ARM) so far?
I have had multiple offers for sea going roles from clients (with the help from my team and my manager – who are amazing!) I feel that is a good achievement as it feels very rewarding to help people find new roles.
What is the next steps for your – what’s your career goals?
I am aiming to achieve my qualification with ARM and in the future perhaps take on more training with ARM as they offer great apprenticeships.
What do you enjoy most about your job and working for ARM?
I enjoy the diversity of every day and I enjoy the fact that the harder you work, the better the outcome within recruitment. All the people here are very friendly and helpful, I have a very good team who are always helping me within every step of the way no matter what,
There is a great environment within the office at arm and it is a delight to work here. My manager is very supportive will never hesitate to help me when I have a question. I really enjoy the maritime industry as everyone is always open to new opportunities and are always more than happy to talk about themselves, you learn a new thing every day when it comes to recruitment, especially with seafarers. I am not scared to ask for help at ARM as everyone here will happily help without a second thought.
