Here at ARM we are recruiting for a full time permanent Principal Data Architect for a global IT services and consultancy client of ours.

Overview:
We are seeking a talented Principal Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a cross-government data architecture. This role focuses on enabling trusted, ethical, and scalable reuse of high-value data assets to support public service transformation, economic growth, and AI innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the vision for cross-sector data architecture.
- Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to align architecture with strategic goals.
- Establish frameworks for data governance, quality, and ethical management.
- Design interoperable solutions using open standards and APIs.
- Ensure privacy, security, and ethical considerations are embedded in architecture.
- Support AI and analytics by making data accessible and machine-readable.
- Influence organizational change for federated data stewardship
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5yrs+ proven experience as a principal or Lead Data Architect.
- Expertise in data architecture, modelling, and integration.
- Knowledge of data governance and privacy-enhancing technologies.
- Familiarity with semantic data models and interoperability standards.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience with Multi-cloud / hybrid platforms. o Knowledge of Data lakes, mesh, fabric, real-time pipelines.
- Big data & analytics (Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka) experience
- Implementation experience with container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
- Knowledge of Big Data (Hadoop/Hive/Spark) and Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of distributed system architecture, high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Familiarity with security authentication systems such as LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth2, Kerberos.
- Excellent Unix/Linux skills.
- Familiarity with JDBC / ODBC
Preferred Skills:
- Data Certifications
- Experience Python and/or Java programming.
- Proficient with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.
- Knowledge of data requirements for AI and machine learning workloads.
- Familiarity with Data Federation and Cached Services
- Familiarity with Data pipeline (Series of steps that move and transform data from one source to another for analyses and storage)
- Experience with Dell Data Lakehouse administration.
- Experience in Demand Driven Adaptive Enterprise (DDAE) administration
