Location: Portsmouth (Hybrid working)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 DOE
Overview
The IoT Solution Engineer's role is to support IoT product development activity in the areas of hardware specification and testing, R&D and to develop and build out early stage customer IoT based projects.
Responsibilities
* Evaluating & testing IoT hardware suitable for IoT solutions.
* Develop "The company's IoT certified" device programme for IoT hardware specification.
* Supporting our L3 technicians with hardware knowledge.
* Supporting Pre-Sales with new IoT hardware selection for sales opportunities and early stage projects.
* Perform research & development projects to support the company's IoT strategy.
* Developing software elements in the business' application suite and IoTaaS platform.
Required Skill & Experience
* Technically curious with a can-do attitude and who likes a challenge.
* Self-driven and self-motivated to deliver assigned projects and seek out self-development with an entrepreneurial mindset.
* Able to work as part of a team to achieve common objectives and to collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, service delivery teams and sales teams.
* Proven hands-on use of IoT components and systems for projects development.
* Demonstrable experience of using, and programming of embedded hardware and IoT platforms & applications.
* A methodical approach to solving technical problems, and able to communicate the design thinking of their approach.
* Applied use of JavaScript or similar
* Practical hands-on experience of wiring and build test bench solutions.
* Ability to do research & development to explore new technologies, platforms, and methodologies for potential implementation.
Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
* Familiarity of Amazon AWS & Microsoft Azure components would be an advantage, in particular Quick Sight/PowerBI, and cloud-based applications to manage and analyse data collected from IoT devices.
* Would suit someone that has hobbies or pastimes that have a DIY/project maker bias.
* Experience of Raspberry PI and/or Arduino development boards including embedded development methodologies.
