Requirements Engineer

My client a leading rail design engineering consultancy is recruiting a Requirements Engineer to join their business.

This opportunity is based in Birmingham and will give you the opportunity to work on key projects such as HS2. Important to this role is a working background gained within the rail sector.

Hybrid working is also embraced within this role, with a requirement for you to be in the office 3 days per week.

Key Tasks

• Responsible for supporting the definition of project requirements, including acceptance criteria for the design and commissioning of works.
• Supporting the definition of design and requirements acceptance criteria for the design and commissioning of works.
• Liaising with third party designers and contractors to ensure correct production of evidence to satisfy requirements.
• Ensuring awareness and understanding of verification and validation processes with internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing requirements using the DOORS database.
• Reporting on requirements status and escalating any potential project issues or risks.
• Monitor project scope and manage design and requirements scope.

Knowledge and Experience Required

• Experience in requirements management through the complete lifecycle of a project, ideally on a large infrastructure project.
• Understanding best practice for evidencing requirements and moving through the V&V cycle.
• Engineering background (Electrical/Mechanical/Systems)
• Expertise in railway systems engineering
• Expertise in requirements management software DOORS
• Ability to recognise where evidence is insufficient and identify corrective action;
• Ability to analyse requirements systems and processes, capture the key parameters, input evidence and present to wider project.
• Excellent communications skills
• Professional Institute membership within a relevant field or working towards
