My client, a leading design, engineering and landscape architecture consultancy, are currently looking for a Traffic Engineer. You will have the opportunity to join a vibrant team and work on prestigious projects. This role is a permanent role based in London
The position itself will include, but not be limited to:
- Support senior staff, providing technical support for a wide range of project types and consultancy commissions
- The role specifically requires a sound knowledge of traffic and transportation and the ability to develop and initiate traffic and highway schemes from inception through to completion
- Design and options development primarily for road safety, walking, cycling and public transport improvements, but also safe and efficient movement of people and goods in private vehicles
- Arrange for the collection of relevant pedestrian, cycling, public transport and traffic surveys such as volume, speed, accidents, turning counts, loading activity, desire lines, bus patronage etc.
- Analyse data and present it in an easy to comprehend way, such as in maps, graphs, tables and reports
- Production of relevant general arrangement design drawings and associated reports
- Projects may be undertaken at various stages depending upon the specification/ brief (e.g. outline / feasibility / preliminary / detailed design)
Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:
- Sound understanding of highways and traffic engineering techniques and principles and/ or a track record in transport planning, design and/ or delivery
- A minimum of 2 year’s relevant experience
- Relevant Degree or HND/ HNC (preferably in engineering/ geography) or equivalent qualifications
- Consideration given to significant relevant experience in lieu of specified education and professional qualification
- Membership of a professional institution (e.g. MILT, MICE or MCIHT) or aiming towards
- Expertise in highways related AutoCAD design highly desirable
- Experience in road safety and road safety audits is valuable, but not essential
- Working knowledge of DMRB, Highways Acts, RTRA 1984, RTAs, TSRGD 2016, Traffic Signs Manual and relevant British Standards
- Familiarity with TMA 2004
