Are you a Category Officer looking for your next contract?
I am currently recruiting for a Category officer on a 2 month contract (likely to be extended) based in Bradford paying £15.50 per hour PAYE or £19.30 per hour Umbrella. This role will be working inside IR35.
My client are very well established within the public sector and the purpose of your role will be expected to demonstrate your ability to meet the special knowledge, experience and qualifications required for the role by providing evidence in the application form for the purpose of shortlisting.
What you will be doing on a day to day basis:
-To support best practice commissioning, procurement and category management to assist the client and as appropriate its partners in achieving target outcomes, best use of resources, value for money and continuous improvement.
-Working independently to deliver, or collaboratively supporting best practice procurement and category management to assist in achieving value for money.
-To support delivery of procurement programmes and projects through establishing and leading as required multi-disciplinary teams and developing high quality products including project management, business case, procurement and contract documentation.
-To ensure effective, efficient and improved compliant business processes are adopted and followed by client service areas involved in the procurement of goods, works or services.
-To assist Departments and Service areas to meet their statutory, corporate and departmental obligations according to national policy/guidance and local policy and priorities, including all times proper compliance with the Public Contracts Regulations and Contracts Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and other relevant UK Legislation relating to contracting and procurement.
-To participate in 'future thinking' and the development of e-systems and e-processes that will drive forward increased efficiency and greater value for money from the procurement activities.
-Collect and analyse relevant user, service, supplier and spend data to support decision making in relation to category management and procurement as part of a team implementing procurement projects identified through portfolio analysis and sourcing strategies.
-Provide concise and timely communications tol service areas and suppliers to support and increase effective procurement and efficient use of e-procurement systems.
What you are expected to know:
- Provide evidence of having previously spoken fluently to members of the public in order to meet the Advanced threshold level outlined under Special Knowledge above.
- Experience in commissioning, procurement and/ or category management role in an arena of significant range, scale or complexity. Experience may have been gained in one or more delivery environments but evidence of ability to transfer skills will be essential.
- Level 4 qualification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) or a higher education / further education Diploma , foundation degree or higher national diploma. (essential)
Additional information: You may be required to work evenings, weekends or Bank Holidays as required by the needs of the service.
