An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Engineer to join the Engineering department within Attachments reporting to the Engineering Manager. We need a candidate with strong engineering skills to help to grow and evolve the range, develop innovative designs of new products and maintain the highest possible level of reliability. The successful candidate will join a highly focused, passionate expanding team with future opportunities.
Overview of the role:
Responsibilities as a Senior Design Engineer:
Create innovative design concepts, GA's and drawings for new designs, VAVE work, and solutions to field issues on current and new products.
Preparation of technical specifications and bills of materials.
Produce engineering calculations to substantiate engineering decisions.
Prepare, update, check and authorisation of design control documents such as Engineering change notes timing plan, cost estimation, etc.
Ensure products are designed for cost, manufacture whilst meeting all customer requirements
Maintaining Engineering sign-off documents such as TCF / DVPSOR
Day to day running of projects and supervision of any engineers allocated for project work and the Indian Design Centre.
Design of Attachments / Light equipment/ subsystems such as fabricated structures, hydraulic circuits and electrical
Selection and specification of components and materials including cast iron / steel, rubber and plastics
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of the types of different manufacturing processes and supply chain used in the production of construction or similar equipment.
Hands-on prototype build support and test / development.
Problem analysis and proposal of design solutions
Analysis, reporting and presentation of test results
Liaison with internal / external customers & departments.
Assume responsibility for given projects
You should have a strong engineering background and an Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
Have extensive proven experience as a lead engineer in product engineering design, operating in 3D CAD environment (preferable Unigraphics NX) other software considered
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a previous success, a high level of commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm as well as a sense of urgency and ownership of projects
Proven working knowledge of mobile equipment design and development practice.
Knowledge of PLM / Teamcenter would be an advantage.
Working knowledge of failure investigation and root cause analysis - 8D. DFMEA
Skilled in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
The ability to communicate clearly, interfacing with other members of the team including Indian Design Centre, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service and Marketing is a pre-requisite.
Travel on business may be required periodically
