We currently have an opportunity to work as a Tooling Engineer for a global manufacturing company of valves, connectors and clamps. This is a varied role and includes responsibilities in the design, improvement and control of tools, jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes and New Product Introductions.
What you will be doing:
You will have a pro-active involvement in New Product Introduction, advising on and designing / implementing tooling to support lean manufacturing systems
Project Management of internal process improvements including Kaizan and cost reduction.
Participation in PFMEA and DFMEA
Preparation of tool, jig and fixture designs to meet product, machinery and tooling requirement specifications for internal / external manufacture and build.
Lead responsibility for the ordering of all tooling for New Product Introduction and serial production, including spares.
Analysis of Statistical Process Control results and implementing corrective actions where required.
Tooling non-conformance investigation and corrective action Implementation.
Lead responsibility for tool drawing document control and change management
- Experienced in using Pro-Engineer/Creo design software
- Must have experience of tooling design
- Ideally have a good knowledge of APQP, DFMEA and PFMEA processes
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques
- HNC qualified in a mechanical / production based subject.
- To work unsociable hours if required.
