Job Description

To provide technical expertise within the Land Mission Systems line of business with a focus on the development of models and synthetic environments using the Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3) simulation tool.

The successful candidate will be involved in the design and development of vignettes based on operational scenarios relating to Active Protection Systems (APS), as utilised on armoured vehicles. Understanding of APS sensors and effectors and land vehicle platforms would be beneficial but is not considered essential. The VBS3 model has been developed over the course of previous programmes and will be enhanced by the candidate to demonstrate innovative capabilities in threat defeat.

You will be working on projects associated with both internally funded products as well as products directly deliverable to key customers within short timescales. You would be joining a dedicated team with a full and stretching workload.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Development of the vignettes relating to Active Protection Systems and in particular the demonstration of new threat scenarios.
• Implementation and demonstration of the scenarios in a VBS3 model.
• Supporting the development of current and future Systems architectures/designs and their implementation.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Essential:

• Extensive experience of the VBS3 development toolset
• Flexibility to work on various technology domains across the development lifecycle.

Desirable:

• Experience of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, from development and management of requirements through to acceptance testing.
• Previous experience working with land platform integration and sensor systems
• Previous experience working with other Engineering disciplines and external suppliers/customers.
• Experience of MODAF/DODAF and awareness of Capability Management through the lifecycle of the system across the Defence Lines Of Development
