Senior Quantity Surveyor

My client a leading foundations and geotechnical specialist requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis. You will be working from their site in Birmingham and will focus on major rail projects across the region.

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will play a key role in the commercial management of projects by supporting the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain. You will actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our Customers

Day to Day Tasks

• To maximise profit and minimise risk for the company by identifying and using commercial opportunities under contract.
• Review and negotiate conditions of contracts and warranties
• Administer contracts
• Advise operations staff within the team regarding commercial and contractual issues
• Prepare commercial and contractual correspondence
• Prepare internal valuations and financial reports
• Prepare external valuations
• Negotiation and administration of Sub-Contracts and pay Sub-Contractors
• Identify and prepare claims
• Negotiate settlements of accounts
• Review costs against budget and manage accruals

Person Specification

• Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts and law
• Commercial awareness
• Good communication skills
• Negotiation skills
• A general appreciation of design, tendering, and construction processes
• Analytical thinking
• Numeracy
• An appreciation of financial reporting
• IT skills

Applicants with experience across piling, groundworks and heavy civils will be strongly considered for this opportunity.
