Electro- Mechanical Assembler
South West London with a view to re-locate
up to £28,000p/a
I am currently recruiting for an Electro-Mechanical Assembler to join a well-established organisation on a permanent basis paying up to £28,000p/a
This role is currently based at the client's facility in Earlsfield, South West London but is highly likely to relocate with the next 4 to 6 months. This is envisaged to be to the southwest of London within easy reach of the M25 and M3 motorways and a mainline railway service.
The main element of your role will be to reflect exciting new products coming to market and will encompass the assembly of small and medium volume electro-mechanical products where significant variation is typical within product families. The role will also include supporting the repair and rework of products, and supporting the R&D team with pre-production and prototype assembly work.
What you will be doing on a day to day basis:
o Assembly and test of complex mechatronic products and subsystems which may vary in design maturity from pre-production to mature full production products, with the associated variation in fidelity of assembly procedures.
o Meet the requirements of the production schedule while always ensuring the highest quality standards are met and products are delivered to the required dates.
o Be responsible for ensuring that your work area is kept to the highest standard and that all tools and ESD protection equipment is in good working order and within calibration where appropriate.
o Continuously look ahead and assess the risk of constraints occurring in the production flow and the risk of resulting line stoppages, resolve these proactively raising to the manufacturing manager in good time if necessary.
o Organising and kitting of components, tools and sub-assemblies to allow the assembly of products to be undertaken efficiently.
o Work effectively and proactively in a team environment to enhance team performance & productivity.
o Proactively identify opportunities for improvement to your work area and processes. Support implementation of enhancements.
What you are required to know:
o English GCSE at A - C or equivalent
o HNC/BTEC (minimum level 2) or equivalent in a relevant discipline
o A high level of dexterity and experience in the unsupervised, safe use of small hand-tools and measuring equipment within an ESD environment. Great attention to detail, with ability to manipulate small and complex parts repeatedly, with precision and ensuring the highest quality standards.
o Capability to read and interpret technical drawings.
o Creative and flexible with strong communication skills and the ability to interact with co-workers and clients often under deadline pressure.
o Ability to communicate fluently both spoken and written English.
o A proactive self-starter with a determination to exceed expectation
o High proficiency in soldering ideally qualified to IPC J-STD 001.
o Experience in a mechatronic manufacturing / assembly environment producing batch production of complex electro-mechanical products. Experience with both assembly and test.
o A good general understanding of electronics and mechanical assembly and experience of fault-finding.
o Knowledge and understanding of concessions, permits, quality notifications and special work instructions.
o Hands on good practical engineering skills, at home assembling or testing.
o Trained to work within an ESD environment.
o Ability to rework electro-mechanical assemblies according to defined specifications, instructions and or drawings.
o Previous experience of working within one-piece flow and a lean manufacturing environment.
