Our client is a major defence manufacturing company with both domestic and international customers. It consists of three business areas focusing on Vehicles, Special Projects and Mission Support, which provide a variety of products and services to the MoD and other customers including the Warrior CSP, Scout and support to the Land Environment Air Picture Provision capability. Please note that they work a 9 day fortnight with the site closed every second Friday.
Specific Job Description
Responsible for delivering continuous improvement activities across vehicle production lines.
Conduct improvement studies to reduce cost, Non Value Added (NVA) activities and defect rates. This may include facilitating process observations and participation in Structured Improvement Activities (SIA's)
Assist with the development of improvement plans based on improvement studies to be actioned by applicable improvement team
Participate and facilitate in PFMEA studies to reduce programme and customer risk
Active involvement in production Level 1 MDWT (Mission Directed Work Team) meetings
Write and amend process specifications to ensure and deliver repeatable build process
Perform predefined improvement actions as directed by Technical & Improvement leads
Assist with expediting tooling manufacture either in-house or from external sub-contractors
Required skills, qualifications and experience
Understanding of improvement activities including process mapping, process observations, manufacturing waste and data analysis tools
Excellent communication skills (able to influence stake holders and employees at multiple levels)
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodology, Green Belt level preferred
Strong analytical skills (able to determine trends in data)
Understanding of the use of MRP systems and 3D CAD systems
