The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of quality implementation across the Quantum Technologies department to ensure the quality management system is adhered to and improved across the department's groups. This is a challenging role that will require the development of a rigorous framework building from a limited base to ensure best practice for both existing and new measurements. Focusing initially on the Quantum Materials and Sensors (QMS) group, where new measurement services are currently being developed, the candidate will also need to ensure best practice is established and implemented across the whole department.
" Be the local source and first point of contact for of QC best practice.
" Work closely with other quality/compliance roles across the lab, the Quality Assurance team as well as the GLs, SALs, the PMO and science teams to ensure a regular review of QC records and briefings to teams.
" Work closely with science teams to ensure all activities and outputs are fully compliant with the quality management system (including review of calibration of equipment, procedures, training and competence records and uncertainty budgets). This will include implementation of relevant change control processes.
" Through close communication with science teams, be responsible for facilitating design reviews, document controls and systems for archiving and controlling lab measurement data, offering training to the department as required.
" Ensure data supporting method verification and validation is maintained appropriately.
" Ensure compliance with Quality System and any systems in place supporting a registration or customer requirements through continued engagement with employees, regular review of delivery procedures.
" Provide guidance to the teams for setting up best practice, including procedures, and will undertake planned regular technical audits of measurement activities to ensure ongoing adherence to these procedures.
" Work closely with other quality/compliance roles across the lab to ensure sharing and dissemination of best practice, be trained and act as an internal auditor for other areas whilst also driving implementation of best practice.
" Relevant scientific and laboratory experience
" Working within a rigorous Quality System
" Taking a leading role within a team on continuous improvement and/or enforcing standards
" Understanding and enthusiasm in fundamental and applied research
" Excellent problem-solving, with a record in innovative research
" Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills
" Ability to manage own time and to work as part of an interdisciplinary project team.
" Some level of programming skills (e.g. LabView) would advantageous be able to QC local code
