Project Engineering Manager
Location: Southampton
Job Type: 6 month contract
Salary: £45 p/h
ARM are currently recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager to be based in Southampton on a 6 month contract basis, for a leading defence company.
The Project Engineering Manager will be responsible to define the optimal technical solution and manage the Engineering deliverables. The successful candidate will also be responsible to ensure that the Engineering aspects of the project is delivered in accordance with Company Life Cycle Management process, company and legislative standards and be responsible for the planning and managing the maturity design reviews. This role will also include working with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure engineering progression is in line with the key requirements.
Responsibilities of a Project Engineering Manager:
- To promote a collaborative IPT approach throughout the project lifecycle and facilitating compliant cost, schedule and technical solutions by working effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic Management and direction in the face of uncertainty
- Work with the wider FCAS TI to deliver:
- The design solution, ensuring it maximises the re-use of existing 'resources', is producible, robust and works in its environment, i.e. is fit for purpose
- Management of multi-disciplined Engineering teams, ensuring that roles within the teams are clearly defined and support growth of engineering team in terms of headcount and skill / knowledge
- Establish and maintain good lines of communication across the Engineering IPT and upwards to the IPT lead / customer base
- Management of the Engineering technical quality, schedule and budget
- Control project configuration and change management
- Identifying technical risks and mitigation strategies
- Ensure that the design rationale is documented
- Ensuring effective implementation of the company's Lifecycle
- Management, including Design & Gate Reviews and Processes, to: Agree qualification & acceptance criteria and design certification as required
- Validating and meeting targets for development of design maturity
- Be responsible for all Engineering aspects of the monthly Project Performance Reviews (PPRs)
- Ensuring compliance with Regulatory and Safety Standards
- Personally coach and mentor other Engineers - principally those in a similar career path
