Job Title: Senior Simulation Engineer

ARM are currently recruiting for a Senior Simulation Engineer with experience of modelling and simulation for a permanent opportunity with a world leading defence company in Southampton.
The main responsibility of the Senior Simulation Engineer based in Southampton will be:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of the simulation model for the IVDL waveform and network architecture; providing support to the systems engineering team across a range of technical disciplines such as RF integration, antennas, signal processing, waveforms and network engineering.
- Definition of simulation models for IVDL Waveform and Network Architecture (OSI Layers 1 to 3).
- Technical analysis and modelling of IVDL performance, including link budgets.
- Technical documentation of IVDL model and performance.
- Contribute to system lifecycle milestone reviews.
- Perform technology surveys and prepare roadmaps for future solutions.
- Perform feasibility studies on potential solutions.
- Development of close relationships with key internal and external partner organisations, sub-contractors and key stakeholders.
The ideal Senior Simulation Engineer able to work in Southampton will have experience in the following:
- Graduate degree in relevant engineering or related scientific discipline.
- Knowledge RF communication systems at the Physical, Network, Transport Layers.
- Experience of technical analysis of RF communication system performance.
- Experience in modelling and simulation of RF communication systems.
- Knowledge of Mathematical modelling language (ideally MATLAB).
- Production of detailed technical reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
It is considered highly desirable if you have any of the following experience:
- Knowledge of current commercial and military communications systems.
- Simulation of RF Communication Systems using SIMULINK.
- System modelling using AGI System Tool Kit (STK).
- Construction of waveform demonstrators using Software Defined Radios.
- System modelling of directional antenna technologies.
- Knowledge of Mesh Networks.
- Network modelling tools (Riverbed OPNET, NS-3).
- Knowledge of Electronic Warfare Systems.
