This is your opportunity to work in the Intelligent Vehicle team which is dedicated to the development of research and technologies in the area of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV).
We are currently seeking a Lead Software/Control Systems Engineer or Senior Research Fellow to contribute to a number of exciting research projects.
The successful applicant will lead the development of the software architecture and functions to enable the vehicle to operate autonomously. Furthermore, to support and develop live trials and demonstrations using the vehicle platform.
Ideally you will have the following-
" Experience in developing software for complex control systems, including experience of industrial R&D and first implementation in 'real world' environment
" Previous experience working on projects related to connected autonomous driving systems for example Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, Navigation Systems, Mobile Edge Cloud Computing.
" Be motivated to pursue technical leadership and supervision of MSc/PhD students.
" Possess effective communication (oral and written) skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
" Lead the development of the software architecture and functions to enable the vehicle to operate autonomously.
" Support and develop live trials and demonstrations using the vehicle platform.
" Lead the development and writing of new research proposals.
" Contribute to the technical leadership of the project.
" Contribute to the development of novel cooperative autonomous driving systems.
" Support researchers, engineering and postgraduate students to develop and publish high quality scientific publications and patents.
-A good honours degree in a relevant subject
-Experience in developing software for complex control systems, including experience of industrial R&D and first implementation in 'real world' environment
-A willingness to carry out experimental work
-A good understanding of technologies/experience in one or more of the following areas;
" Systems Engineering
" Controls Engineering
" Extensive experience in coding in at least one or more languages e.g. Python, C++, C
-Ability to perform detailed data analysis and interpretation to present results and make recommendations via briefings, presentations or written reports
-Experience in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation
-Excellent project planning and reporting skills, with the ability to initiate, plan organise, implement and deliver programmes of work to tight deadlines
-Good effective oral and written communication skills, presentation and training skills
A significant level of relevant product development experience in an industrial context
A doctorate level qualification in a relevant research area
Professional membership of an appropriate professional institute
