Automation Engineering Manager (Electrical)

Automation Engineering Manager (Electrical)

Location: County Clare, Ireland

Salary: €Competitive + Benefits

The Irish medical device / pharmaceutical market is an ever-growing, ever-evolving market where almost all of the global top 20 have a base there. This has resulted in Ireland furthering the position on the global playing field as a leader in IT & Engineering skills and it is showing no signs of slowing. It really is no wonder Ireland has been classed as one of (if not, the most) productive economies in Europe.

With this continued growth, our client who is a specialist automation equipment and tooling provider has announced further growth and commitment to moving at the same pace as their customers and will be adding to their engineering teams, expanding their facilities and pushing out double the amount of high quality projects over the next three years. Now would be the ideal time to join them…

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for four key areas which make up this position:

  1. People management of a diverse team – typically 2 x Team Leaders, 5 x Engineers and 2 x Interns. Being able to adapt your style and communication is key to developing a high performing team.
  2. Technical management – day-to-day operation management of the team from a technical standpoint, overseeing the management of multi-million euro electrical projects and ensuring schedules are met, within budget and of the highest industry quality.
  3. Customer management – of key global medical device manufacturing clients, being the key point of contact and escalation. This will also include strategic level management and communicating this internally.
  4. Internal projects – Championing cost reduction, continuous improvement, innovation and new technologies and developing this mind set internally.

Ideally you will be currently working within a leadership or management role within an electrical engineering setting. This will be complimented by a background working within machinery, automation, and robotics or similar within any highly-regulated industry.

About you:

  • Ideally degree qualified in an engineering discipline, e.g. electrical, automation, controls or similar.
  • A strong customer-focused communicator, this is a management and strategic level role which requires significant relationship building at all levels internally and externally, personality is key!

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Proven background in electrical engineering, schematics, pneumatics, installation, commissioning – which has progressed in to a lead role, supervision and management of others.
  • You will be able to demonstrate or even present examples of electrical machine-based projects you have managed from concept through to delivery.
  • A passion for all things automated and ideally a cross-functional knowledge of PLC Controls and Mechanics.
  • A good exposure to special purpose machines, high-speed automation, robots, cobots, automated guided vehicles etc.

Other:

  • Some travel is expected with this role, it will be fairly infrequent but could be for a period of up to 2 weeks maximum.
  • Reports to the Engineering Director.
  • 2-3 stage interview process.
