This role is for a functional safety lead engineer to work as part of a cross functional team bringing these innovative technology building blocks to novel vehicle electrification solutions.
My client will be working with diverse and novel applications and you will need to be able to apply your functional safety knowledge across sectors and to novel technologies. This will include automotive, aerospace, off-highway, commercial, rail and marine sectors amongst others. You will need a sound knowledge of functional safety legislation and standards, ideally across different sectors.
You will help the sub-system technology experts develop the safest solutions as well as the addressing concept safety cases at vehicle level. You will need to be able to help stakeholders and partners understand functional safety and develop training material.
You will represent the company and need to be able to work effectively with a wide and diverse range of collaborative partners. The key requirements for the job are:
· Expertise in functional and none functional safety.
· Experience in systems engineering.
· Functional safety and mitigation techniques.
· Experience of the product safety analysis and development of safety cases.
· Understanding and influencing the standards and legislation across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, rail and off-highway.
You will be employed to work on the Vehicle Electrification Systems Team in collaboration with industry and academic partners.
-A good degree in a relevant scientific/engineering discipline
-Solid experience in functional safety ideally related to vehicle electrification.
-The ability to provide functional safety technical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, researchers and other collaborators.
-Experience in research and prototype vehicle development
-A good understanding of functional safety legislation and standards (E), ideally across sectors (D).
-Ability to perform detailed safety analysis and interpretation to present results and make recommendations via briefings, presentations or written reports and to guide a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, researchers and other collaborators.
-The ability to analyse and solve complex problems with multiple stakeholders
-Experience in development and delivery of training material
-Ability to influence and negotiate in a confident and professional manner, with excellent communication skills, (written and verbal) to interface appropriately with students, academics and industrial collaborators
-Experience of working in collaborative, ideally research, projects
-Proven ability to correctly prioritise a broad range of requests from many customers, both internal and external and ensure safe operation
-Able to work independently as well as part of a team, managing workloads of self and the team you are line managing
-Ability to generate high quality technical papers for peer reviewed journals
