Role title: Construction Support Director
Responsibility for End Results
To ensure the effective development and execution of Construction services which support the business activities across the Development & Sales Division. Managing the Framework Buying team; to ensure the cost-effective delivery of all construction activities to a high quality standard and to full OJEU compliance.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:
Leadership and management including customer service/ values - Be accountable for the Construction Support team’s day to day activities, driving best practise whilst setting an example in delivering excellent customer service in line with the client’s values. Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage staff to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve best performance. Ensure that poor performance is managed via support, training or disciplinary action as appropriate. Recognise and encourage excellent performance.
Strategy/ achieving objectives - Lead on the strategic planning for the division providing direction in regard to procurement and commercial activities. Lead through levels of management to ensure best practice and quality standards are set and maintained whilst having regard for the client’s values at all times. Manage the Divisions frameworks to capture value, quality, business needs and full OJEU compliance with a strong emphasis on Stakeholder communication, liaison and support with business Stakeholders. Identifying training, workshops, and presentations where needed.
Working with others – internal - Work collaboratively with all of the client’s teams. Work with other client departments in matters relating to delivering business targets. Regular Liaison with senior regional staff and teams across the group. Liaise with other departments to advise and inform on cost and delivery issues. In particular liaise with the heads of all department within the Development & Sales Division to capture all business needs for frameworks. Prepare papers for inclusion within the management meeting pack which present current issues that may affect the business.
Working with others – external - Develop and influence relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and partners. Contribute to corporate stakeholder management. Where required, represent the client on external working groups, speaking engagements, etc. and positively promote the Group
Budgetary responsibility - Propose, manage and control budgets for activities with the postholder scope of responsibility. With a focus on utilising divisional buying capacity to achieve ‘best value’. Ensure that departmental activities contribute to meeting divisional business plan and support delivering high quality schemes on time and within budget.
Compliance - Ensure OJEU compliance throughout the Development & Sales Division.
Records and systems - Maintain the necessary relevant records and systems to measure and inform on Contractor/Consultant performance, quality, collective spend and any systems required for the effective performance of Buying within the Division.
Risks - Manage risks associated with areas under the jobholder’s control. Ensure that effective controls are in place to highlight and limit risk. Conduct due diligence as necessary.
