DO Manager - Drawing Office Manager
Location - Aylesbury
This client designs, manufactures and supplies a range of custom-built and standard heat exchangers in over 50 countries around the world. Both OEM and aftermarket units as well as spare parts are supplied to by this client. They have over 100 years of accumulated expertise in heat transfer working with their clients in different industries to develop bespoke cost-effective solutions.
The Design Office Manager is responsible for both office management and design engineering activity within the Engineering department. It has a central role in analysing and driving the Engineering office processes and leading product design projects.
Taking an active role in the day to day management of the design office and Engineering Project planning activities
Proactive identification and involvement in Engineering and design improvement projects
Design engineering and management of individual projects the exceed expectations and meet agreed scheduled target dates.
To manage & carry out any DO activity as required and when necessary, in particular the preparation of drawings and parts lists and the requisitioning of material.
Data Analysis and Process Improvement
Cultivating and maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers.
To check drawings and to ensure, in conjunction with the Engineering Manager that designs being developed are correct and cost effective.
To manage staff workloads
To identify and inform the relevant disciplines within the company of long lead items, specifying where necessary, and to liaise with purchasing and suppliers on special requirements.
To actively work on continuous improvement of the drawing office and implement schemes to reduce non conformance
Qualification & Skills:
Ideally a Degree or equivalent in mechanical Engineering / Product engineering etc (Not Essential)
A solid background in mechanical engineering and design is essential with experience in the following areas: -
Computer with relevant software (2D AutoCAD and 3D Solidworks).
Design and development of concepts and products from initial concept to production
Range of manufacturing techniques including, Heat exchangers, Mechanical, Electrical, tolerances, Water cooling, air cooling, heat, thermal. Metals, or Pressure vessels.
Liaison with marketing department, manufacturing, regulatory bodies, quality and suppliers.
Fluent in all MS software primarily - Excel - Power Point - Word - Outlook. - Project Planning
You may have to do occasional travel to suppliers or client sites.
