Modelling Engineer (Electromagnetic EMC EMI)
Salary up to £65000 p/a + benefits
Our client designs, develops and sells bespoke computational electromagnetic modelling software to support design and in-service upgrades for EMI/EMC, installed antenna performance, radiation hazards and radar cross-section for land, air and sea applications.
They also provide consultancy services using the products, worldwide.
They provide a professional design and assessment consultancy to address electromagnetic compatibility and signatures issues for both military and civil clients, together with sales of their software and related hardware products and services.
Currently the company is looking for a member of the technical team to help the company grow in the area of computational electromagnetic modelling. Ideal candidates will be at least degree qualified with a strong theoretical background in electromagnetism, preferably with an understanding of the issues surrounding electromagnetic propagation. The applicant will need to familiarise themselves with some of the proprietary software tools, which will require the development of CAD skills and a thorough understanding of applied electromagnetic problems and solutions as applicable to radio/satellite communications and radar systems using modelling and simulation techniques. Training will be provided where appropriate.
The applicant must be self-motivated and work closely as part of a small but capable team in a dynamic environment and have a willingness to learn. Knowledge in computational electromagnetic modelling, antenna radiation patterns or radar/communication systems would be advantageous.
o Experience of computational electromagnetic modelling,
o Understanding of the issues surrounding electromagnetic propagation,
o Antenna experience from a theoretical or measurement perspective,
o A background in radio/satellite communications or radar systems,
o CAD experience.
o Strong theoretical background in electromagnetism or EMC
o Degree in physics, electrical engineering or a related subject area, useful but essential.
o Experience with ANSYS / FEKO / CST / HFSS software tools for modelling electromagnetic scenarios/fields/propagation/interference/compatibility/capabilities
The individual must be a British passport holder and able to secure an SC clearance to work on UK protectively marked material.
Salary is negotiable, depending on capability and experience.
