Lead Mechanical Design Engineer,
£45-52k p/a + benefits
An opportunity has arisen to work within the dynamic multi-disciplinary Missile Actuators Centre of Excellence, developing and delivering actuation systems. The Lead Mechanical Engineer role will be responsible for all the mechanical design aspects of the actuation control system from concept through to manufacturing and the maintaining of series production.
What are we looking for?
" Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant post qualification experience in Mechanical Design and Development (or equivalent experience).
" Experience of electro mechanical mechanism design is an advantage but not essential.
" Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the business.
" Have the awareness and understanding of cultural differences with the ability to adapt accordingly.
" You will have a willing, helpful attitude, a calm professional manner, and the ability to assess and set priorities and deal with multiple issues on a regular basis
" Robust design experience using common development techniques such as DFMEA, DFA, DFM.
" Experience of supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
" Management of Non-Conformance issues
" Awareness of proving activities to ensure compliance against requirements.
" Experience of supporting series production through Industrial validation activities (ensure quality/rate/cost).

You will be responsible for:
" Managing the day to day mechanical design activities for actuation systems
" Working with cross functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of the actuation system
" Investigating and resolving design issues as they occur in the production environment and coordinating any remedial and corrective action plans.
" Providing feedback to Mechanical Design Equipment teams on issues raised to ensure continuous improvement and best practices is maintained.
