Reporting to the Powertrain Test - Team Leader, as a proven professional you will be required to perform strip, re-build and new builds of measured prototype engines in support of test programs
An apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in early prototype / research engine assembly & dis-assembly including measurements of components and assemblies and documentation of builds
Experience of assembly & dis-assembly of transmissions and other powertrain components would be an advantage
Experience of fitting & removing instrumentation would be an advantage
Experience of fabricating and operating rigs & fixtures would be an advantage
Experience of operating engine test cells would be an advantage
Knowledge of current motor vehicle technology
Computer literate including Microsoft Office
Strong hands-on ability with can do attitude
Good communication and persuasion skills at all levels
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assembly and/or strip of Engines including component measurement and preparation where needed
Instrumentation fitment onto engines & components
Documentation of engine measurements during assembly
Installation of engines onto test pallets
Installation and removal of Powertrain systems & components from vehicles and/or test cells
Working as part of a small team covering for holiday/absence of others if appropriately skilled
Other Features of job
