Specific Job Description:
The Solution architect will have ownership of enterprise wide initiatives. The Solution architect shall plan, implement, document and maintain enterprise-wide solutions using internally created and/or off the shelf products.
" Development of Solution Architecture , designing and building solutions for major projects
" Leading the creation of Solution Architecture blueprints and frameworks
" Delivering Solution Architectures that conform to enterprise architecture principles, policies, standards and patterns.
" Develop the Solution Architecture road map
" Leading the development of component level architecture & design
" Ensuring that services and APIs are identified and implemented in the correct manner.
" Providing guidance on non-functional requirements and implications for required infrastructure solutions
" Working with technical specialists be responsible for the realisation of both the functional and the non-functional requirements into working solutions underpinned by the defined blueprints/frameworks
" Working with development teams, in the UK & US, ensure that the solution is properly developed and coded in line with the solution blueprint/frameworks.
" Identify and create reusable components and services that can be leveraged by the wider enterprise including patterns, services, APIs, frameworks, and reference architectures
" Working with Domain Architects to create and maintain the future state architecture and roadmap for the domain
" Participating in the Architecture Community to engage and educate architects in enterprise and solution architecture
" Working under consultative direction towards predetermined long-range goals and objectives
" Ensuring that our Solution architecture, operations and engineering initiatives are aligned with business/enterprise strategy
" Defining, overseeing and leading the technical change process to manage risk
" Point of contact and responsible for architecture tech reviews, benchmarks (service and cost) and assessments (audits, evaluations, etc.)
" Ensuring policies, processes and procedures are correctly implemented over the system and solution lifecycle
" Technical approver and responsible for Solution Architect technical reviews, benchmarks (service and cost) and assessments (audits, evaluations, etc.).
" Technical approver and system sign off for Solution Architecture for Systems Solutions
" Develop advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
" Application of advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts.
" Review, evaluate, and derive Solution Architecture requirements for testability.
" Contributes to the development of new principles and theories.
" Act as advisor to management and customers on advanced Solution Architecture research studies and applications.
" Serves as organization Solution Architecture spokesperson on complex projects and/or programs.
" Support Business Development and Programme Management during capture & proposal phases.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
" Experience in the creation or evolution of the core enterprise solution architecture and ensuring alignment to the business and IT strategies
" Understand, advocate and shape IT strategies
" Develop the future state architecture to create the vision that informs and guides the direction of development programmes
" Deriving enterprise architecture requirements from enterprise business drivers
" Analysing the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
" Analysing industry, technology and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise's strategy and application architecture requirements
" Develop, maintain and communicate the enterprise architecture model and repository
" Leading and facilitating the creation of governing principles and policies to guide solution decision making for the enterprise
" Participating in the governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling exceptions) associated with architecture compliance
" Overseeing the enterprise architecture implementation and on-going changes to the strategic architecture
" Serving as the point of contact for all things relating to core enterprise architecture
" Collaborating with Domain Architects, Solution architects and program/project teams to reconcile solutions to the enterprise architecture
" Identifying organizational requirements for the resources, structures and cultural changes necessary to support the delivery of the enterprise architecture
" " Create and operate an effective Architecture Community to engage and educate architects in enterprise and solution architecture
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
" Proven track record in the design, development and integration of major services/applications.
" Excellent analytical skills, able to convey complexity in a simple manner
" An understanding of business processes, practices and approaches
" Experience in working with Agile methodologies / approaches for software delivery
" A keen understanding of emerging technologies
" Expertise with a visual documentation methods e.g. UML and has the ability to convey complex concepts using standard approaches
" Breadth of understanding across a wide range of technologies and practices to ensure the right approach is taken to address the specifics of the requirements
" Experience of making application or technical decisions and working through the trade-offs.
" Strong understanding of design and architecture patterns and how to apply them
" Strong understanding of one or more of infrastructure, applications and information architecture
