Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Salary: £35,000 - 40,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Are you a customer-focused individual who would like to use their technical ability as an applications engineer and deliver solutions to a variety of customers? A close-knit engineering company in Fareham, Hampshire are looking to double in size over the next 5 years and are now looking for this individual to join their technical sales function and play a key part in their strategy and provide ongoing support to their current (and future) customer base.
What you will be doing:
As an applications engineer, you will be responsible for wearing multiple hats within the business including understanding the customer's issue from first contact, rapport-building, travelling to customer's sites, observing test programmes, understanding the mechanics of the problem, before offering hardware and software solutions. On top of this, you may also be expected to identify other business opportunities as well as provide ongoing support to the Sales Manager covering the UK & European markets.
Ideally, you will currently be working as an engineer within a highly technical position within either an OEM, Consultancy or Tier 1 Supplier offering solutions on sensors, data loggers and instrumentation to a engineering test programmes. You may also be an academic who has completed their PhD in a mechanical engineering topic and be in a post-doctorate research position but now looking for a new role in the industry.
+ Ideally degree qualified in an engineering or science discipline, an MSc or PhD would put you in a distinct advantage.
+ Strong customer facing skills.
+ Willingness to travel: UK, 1-2 days per week. Europe, 1-2 days per month.
Skills / Knowledge:
+ A solid knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
+ Answer questions around testing: Why is it giving obscure results? Why is the test not giving us the desired result? How can we utilise sensors/instrumentation differently? Give solutions!
+ A knowledge of data logging equipment, test software and hardware.
+ A background of working within the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, industrial sectors.
