System Design Engineer
Our client provides power systems and data analysis solutions Their Control Systems Business Group provides electronics, embedded software, fuel pumps, fuel metering valves and fuel driven actuators to Rolls Royce.
Opportunities exist for systems Design Engineers to support new product Development and fleet projects.
In this challenging role you will design specific and validate complex sub-systems, including the high level requirements for software and hardware system components and you will create the documentation necessary to support the release of your designs for operation in a highly regulated environment.
You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally electronic, mechanical, control or Aeronautical engineering, and you will have a broad control system design knowledge gained in the domain of complex safety-critical embedded software systems in a highly regulated industry (e.g. aerospace, rail, nuclear). You will communicate complex technical information simply and accurately and be able to draw conclusions and make sound recommendations. You will be able to demonstrate previous team leading and outcome delivery in requirement specification will be an advantage.
In this role you will:
" Analyse Customer requirements and translate them into validated functional requirements for a system.
" Capture applicable design constraints and quality attributes that apply to the system
" Design sub-systems to meet the function requirements and design constraints.
" Prepare reports in support of system certification and modification approval
" Undertake system problem investigations
" Ensure effective application of appropriate tools and applicable processes
" Present progress updates and be comfortable presenting to an audience of peers & senior management
Embedded Systems engineering- focussed towards electronics boundary and interface to Software, Firmware and Electronics for LRU's design
Embedded Systems and software development experience
Previous nuclear plant, control and installation (EC&I) skills required
Strong formal requirement writing and system design skills
Safety culture background, hazard identification experience and mitigation through FFA's FMECA and HAZOP documentation.
Model based Software engineering, SysML, UML
DOORS, PTC Integrity, Atego Studio, Reliability workbench, CAFTA
Strong change management and problem tracking experience
Familiar with industry standards such as IEC standards, ALARP, RTCA, ARP47 series
Regulatory approvals experience.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
