The System Engineer will be engaged within the Homeland Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection domain of our client’s business in the UK with a focus on large scale strategic integrated Security Surveillance and Control Systems including Electro-Optic and Radar Sensors and Command and Control software. They are currently running major programmes to provide civil site and area protection solutions at national scale and protecting critical infrastructure assets worth £B.
The System Engineer will be responsible for the development of effective solutions to customer requirements. Working closely with customers and other members of the systems team they will grip the solution end to end to ensure that our delivery is compliant with user needs, aligned with busines strategy and delivers the high quality, highly capable and effective solutions for which we are known.
The successful candidate must have proven and extensive experience in all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle of a solution which includes requirements capture, design, analysis/modelling, integration, test and acceptance.
Key Responsibility Areas
" Engagement with customer, suppliers, product teams and other stakeholders to develop the overall solution.
" Robust capture of design artefacts as appropriate for all stages in the engineering lifecycle appropriate for managing existing systems and for taking concepts through to production.
" Ensuring that technical requirements are correctly flowed down to subsystems / subcontractors for all elements of the solution (these requirements will include Customer requirements, implied and derived requirements, international and national standards, industry technical standards)
" Ensuring that design integrity requirements (activities and deliverables) are correctly flowed down to subcontractors and internal providers (including design reviews, certification, safety data and stress analysis)
" Preparation and presentation of design review artefacts for the overall technical solution to internal stakeholders and the Independent Technical Authority.
" Provision of technical support to Sub-contract/Procurement Managers for sub-contracted elements of the solution.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills
" Demonstrable experience in systems engineering, implementation of complex technical solutions, making engineering decisions, mitigating technical risk, and ensuring best practice is shared
" Domain knowledge in at least 2 of the following technologies - Surveillance Radar, Electro-optics (CCTV and thermal Imaging), Command and Control System Software, ICT and Networked systems
" Demonstrable understanding of product safety with experience in conducting / supporting safety reviews and hazard identification and management
" Experience working on Bids & Proposals and knowledge of international specifications and standards is highly desirable.
Intrinsic Job Factors
This role will generally be office based with occasional travel to customers and suppliers in both the UK and abroad, and also to other offices in the UK.
This role will be based at one of the offices in Basildon (preferred), London, or Southampton.
