The Business Analyst (BA) and Project Manager (PM) is a split role with two distinct but closely related functions. In this dual role, the BA/PM will connect the project discovery phase with the planning and subsequent delivery of software. Reporting to the Software Delivery Manager the BA/PM will be engaged in project work at the earliest stages assisting and working with the MD to complete the discovery phase documenting and contributing to solution design. Once in development, the BA/PM will be utilised to plan and manage specific project delivery.
As Business Analyst:
The BA requirements will involve working closely with the MD who will engage the BA function either for a paid discovery phase or to assist during the pre-sales process with proposal documentation. The BA will build up a deep knowledge of the clients' product portfolio and a high-level understanding of the platform and application architecture. The BA will lead discovery workshops organising and planning the discovery process and building any required tools or media necessary, including presentations, data collection plans, process maps. The BA will carefully document meeting outputs and use these to build external documents such as solution specification, solution proposal or project plans.
The PM requirements will involve managing specific named projects, working under the supervision of the Software Delivery Manager who manages the programme of all works. Projects will be managed with an Agile/Scrum approach and utilise the company management tools for software delivery (Atlassian - Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket). The PM will organise and plan the distribution of work to their assigned resources as well as closely tracking progress and budget. Progress will be reported formally to the Software Delivery Manager and MD, on a weekly basis and subsequently to the client.
Key Responsibilities in Detail
o Plan, organise and facilitate workshops for the collection of project information
o Lead discussions and building rapport, trust and relationship with clients
o Document outputs
• Process mapping
o Document processes using Visio or equivalent
o Innovate processes – rationalise and adapt
o Document associated and explanatory information in Confluence
o Develop engagement process templates for formal documents such as Proposals, Requirements and Project planning
o Write and deliver high-quality external project documentation using templates
o Utilise Confluence to build well document information sets relating to engagements
• Project Planning
o Develop project plans collecting estimates and planning to meet milestones and contractual obligations or service level.
o Document and share standard project documentation such as RAID logs, decision logs and project reporting
o Track progress using Jira and Excel developing reporting formats to suit internal and client needs both in presentation and duration
o Establish and implement escalation pathways to achieve project delivery
• 2 years+ Project Management in Agile/Scrum
