We are currently recruiting for a self-driven, passionate and focused Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the Engineering Team in Hampshire. You will work with highly skilled people who are proactive, passionate and results driven about what they do. Your role will be to develop and design new products and product improvements by providing a high level of Mechanical based design skills and knowledge into product development projects and balancing innovative engineering design, functional requirements and aesthetic appeal with product safety, cost effective design and ease of manufacture and installation

Work in compliance with the Engineering design rules, product development vision and product development process
Ensure that development work adheres to the requirements of project design briefs and other documentation
Play an active role in projects, teams, meetings etc. Liaise with other cross-functional team members, suppliers and other interested parties throughout projects and encourage their involvement and participation
Lead design reviews, communicate ideas and solutions, influence decisions and problem solving
Validate and document design solutions are robust and reliable by using relevant tools and techniques such as computerised modelling prototyping; FMEA, FEA, life testing, load testing etc. Evaluate outcomes and act as required
Ensure technical files are created and maintained/updated as new products are designed, or existing products are changed
Have a detailed and through understanding of our own products, and proactively seek to learn about competitors products
Provide technical support to other areas of the business when required
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must an excellent understanding of engineering best practice and experience designing for manufacture and installation
Has experience working in the lift industry, and/or designing products to be used in the construction industry
Has excellent knowledge of product design standards such as EN81-20, 41, BS5900
Is proficient at researching materials, processes and market requirements
Able to implement life and load testing, evaluate test outcomes and initiate actions
Is proficient in the use of day to day software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, email and Internet)
Proficient and experienced in the use of modern CAD software, Inventor
Has experience of electrical product design

Holds relevant mechanical design degree or other equivalent academic qualifications
