I am currently recruiting for a Shift Manufacturing Manager to join one of my very well established companies based in Gateshead, Newcastle paying up to £51,000p/a DOE.
This is an exciting new opportunity due to restructure within the production area. They require and experienced Manufacturing/Production manager who will be working on a shift rotation basis. The shift pattern is based on Continental shift pattern.
The main focus of your role will be responsible for delivering to customers through leadership, direction and development of high performing teams focused on meeting performance metrics relating to Safety, Security, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SSQCDP) within the manufacturing process.
What you will be doing on a day to day basis:
-Support Process Manager in delivery of business objectives and stand in for Process Manager during holiday periods.
-Be a people manager, responsible for crewing, budgetary resource capacity planning, absence management, disciplinary, training, recruitment and appraisal.
-Embed the SAFE program within the team, ensuring daily and weekly audits are undertaken and corrective / improvement actions are closed out.
-Facilitate 1-3-1 skills balancing within team, with demonstrable competency assessment.
-Embed High Performance Work Team culture through facilitation of KATA problem solving methods, workplace organisation, process confirmation and Continuous Improvement CI projects.
-Manage the material flow of product through the factory in line with set rules around storage, location and queuing times.
-Improve the production system through facilitation of Operational Excellence maturity, including a strong facilitation of the 5 foundation Operational Disciplines.
-Manage year on year cost reduction tactical improvement projects, through cost of failure analysis and prioritisation that deliver maximum return.
-KPI focussed, ensure data collection within the processes to facilitate continuous improvement projects and methods.
-Drive bank note print asset and process efficiency through OEE measures and throughput improvements.
-Participate in and sometimes lead, cross functional improvement projects.
-Ensure Level 2 and Level 3 reviews are conducted correctly, behaviours, metrics and escalations, in line with FMS principles.
-Communicate effectively with your team on business performance, alerts and KPI related matters.
-Conduct regular one-to-one and PDR development reviews with team members.
-Ensure new starters, Fixed Term Contractors and Apprentices are sufficiently mentored throughout their employment and appraisal process/
-Plan and organise daily activities and business objectives through an aligned standard diary.
-Carry out all print leadership related activities in accordance with annual Operations objectives and business imperatives.
What you are expected to know:
-Creating and leading high performance teams
-Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
-Management experience in a unionised environment (preferred)
-NEBOSH National General Certificate (minimum).
-Incident Management certified.
-Lean 6 sigma Green Belt (preferred)
-Computer Literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
-Kata Problem solving and coaching trained.
-Conversant with Operational Excellent methods.
Due to the nature of the environment you will be required to undergo security clearance.
