My client a Marina management service provider have set a goal to improve how a managed service model can be utilised to improve operations in an environment which covers both commercial business and leisure facilities.
Important to this plan is the Head of SHEQ,
As the Head of SHEQ you will be responsible for guiding the company for all matters and processes aligned to Safety, Health, the Environment and Quality Assurance.
The successful applicant will have the responsibility of developing a culture aligned to safety, whilst also utilising and improving the management system for the purpose of recording all information.
To assist in the effective delivery of the Operational Strategic Plan for the company, working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively and with consideration to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability are achieved.
To ensure all legal, HSE and company policies including financial are being adhered to.
Working with the Marina Managers to ensure delivery of operational process and systems in accordance with the quality management systems.
Ensuring the users and employees on site remain safe and secure at all times.
To build, develop, lead and empower employees, health & safety & environmental reps and management teams, cultivating a culture that encourages innovation and industry best practice.
To liaise with central service teams e.g.. Finance, Estates, HR, Technical Services and IT; ensuring effective communication at all levels and all departments are kept informed of any reportable/relevant issues.
To represent the company’s interest with external government authorities, suppliers or organisations.
Determines the strategic direction for the continuous improvement of the Marinas and QSHE management systems.
Advise management and assist with the implementation of new or existing QSHE-related legislation, rules and company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety, environment and training.
Facilitate all forms of risk assessment e.g.. task specific, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and acts as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site.
Conduct occupational health and safety related surveys e.g.. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations.
Produce and coordinate the yearly QSHE action plan and longer term QSHE plan, prepare reports for monthly update.
Proven experience as a Head of SHEQ with Line Management experience, ideally gained within a construction, engineering or facilities contract environment.
