Nick Haaker

Senior Recruitment Consultant

About Nick

I am a senior recruiter within the Cyber Security team, focusing on governance, risk, compliance and information assurance/ architecture. This mainly relates to how businesses keep and manage information, from systems to people and the controls used by different stakeholders. As I like to say: “Cyber Security is no longer a commodity, it is a critical necessity!”

My experience revolves around the engineering and IT sectors, covering wide IT, defence, government (public sector), BIG4 consultancies and the CNI sector, which relates to HMG, power, energy, transport, infrastructure and finance. This expands to the wider cyber spectrum, mainly covering GRC, enterprise architecture from a security point of view, solutions architecture and systems architecture. Today information assurance is my specialist area – have you heard of GDPR?

I have a background in the CPNI, HMG and defence sectors, focusing on national security and international co-operations on cyber, GRC and information assurance. My move in 2015 into the recruitment & talent industry was driven by my desire to work directly with the end user, be it candidate or employer, and help them to achieve the best results possible. I've worked with the biggest companies in the UK as well as specialist SMEs.

I work with EA/SA architects, risk consultants, information assurance consultants, security professionals/ engineers and policy/ audit/ framework advisors to find the best match to their career goals whilst also ensuring my clients get the highest calibre candidates.

If GDPR, ISO27001, JSP440 and CISSP is part of your language, I want to speak with you!

Three words that describe my approach

Honest, technical and fun.

Something about me...

I was born in Lima, Peru where I lived until I was 12. I spent a few months in the US before finally settling in the UK over 15 years ago, living in London and then Bournemouth.

I am a DJ and producer and love the gym as well as mountain biking!

I went Bournemouth University where I studied law but soon realised my passion for working with people in a far more direct and immediate way. I then joined O2 where I spent five years honing my customer service skills and sales skills, learning the value of relationships, the importance of rapport and the fine art of consultative sales.
