Description
Our Electronics client requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Underwater Measurement Systems Department specialising in electro magnetic sensors and ranges and onboard naval equipment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful applicants will perform a wide range of engineering work throughout the project life cycle.
Key responsibilities
Delivering optimum mechanical engineering solutions from bid to delivery
Taking responsibility for overall product design or for a sub-module in a larger project
Planning and conducting own development and engineering tasks to meet agreed project objectives
Working closely with other senior team-members, co-ordination of the overall mechanical design
Requirements
An Honours degree in mechanical engineering
An enthusiastic and hands-on approach to design and development
Relevant experience in the design of mechanical assemblies and electrical equipment
Experience of designing underwater housings for use in a marine environment would be a significant advantage
Good working knowledge of the successful application of 3D mechanical design tools in a Naval marine environment would be a significant advantage
Hands on design experience using Solidworks and Pro/Engineer
FEA and CFD experience would be an advantage
Working knowledge of safety and environmental legislation is essential
