Job Purpose:
This position is intended to bring a UK design and layout experience and capability to a team of electrical engineers. The Electrical Engineering Team is part of the Engineering and Procurement Team of
Our clients ambition is to construct and operate up to 4 new nuclear plants in UK, with the first coming on line in 2017 (The Project).
The project covers the two distinctive roles of Architect Engineer and Owner/ future operator (GENCO Ltd). The Architect Engineer is in charge of all coordination, engineering and procurement services necessary for the Project and coordinating all the contractors on Site during the construction. The role of Architect Engineer is mainly played by DIN, the Nuclear Engineering Division of our client
DIN UK is working in close collaboration with the engineering and project management teams of the company in France, with the Energy teams in UK, and with the partners in UK. DIN UK will grow from around 30 permanent people at present to around 90 people by the end of 2010.
Nature & Scope:
The Electrical Draughtsman is intended to support the design responsibilities of DIN UK by preparing preliminary designs and layouts, liaising with designers in other parts of DIN and reviewing contractors design proposals. The Electrical Draughtsman will also be required to support planning applications and other owner activities with suitable drawings.
Principal Accountabilities:
" Ensure the surveillance, the coordination and the review of the UK Design Contractors
" Ensure the surveillance, the coordination and the review of the preliminary and detailed design prepared by UK design Contractors
" Contribute to the drafting of the technical part of the contracts
" Preparing preliminary designs and drawings to support contract specifications
" Preparing drawings to support planning applications and other external interactions
" Establishing consistent standards for DIN UK and contractor-prepared drawings
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
" Qualified to HNC/ Level 3 NVQ or equivalent
" AutoCAD and GIS drawing systems and relevant national/international standards and practice
" Solid experience in electrical engineering design and layout
" Experienced in UK, European, and international standards for electrical works
" Good knowledge of Engineering design procedures at the interface with contractors
" English required, knowledge of French, bilingual preferred
" General professional qualities as accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented
