Description
An exciting opportunity for an antenna engineer to work on contract at one of the UK's leading communications and broadcast companies.
Ideally you will have broadcast and high frequency experience. You will be a senior engineer role within the Antenna Group involved with the design, specification, procurement and ultimately implementation of antenna and combiner systems.
The team provides specialist support to the business to develop system designs as part of customer proposals.
The team ensures that the engineering solutions can be delivered on time, in budget and to the customer's satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
" An in depth understanding and knowledge of antenna system design (including combiners), together with the ability and aptitude to work closely with RF Spectrum planning specialists in order to achieve optimum antenna solutions to complex design problems.
" Able to provide technical direction to others. Excellent awareness of risks and issues that require escalation. Will provide recommended actions.
" Able to use technical skills to analyse a problem and determine root cause and appropriate resolution.
" Ability to make technical, practical and commercial contributions to the Design and Costings of new antenna and combiner systems. Can act as a delegated design authority for specific projects.
" Does not require daily supervision to complete tasks and is responsible for ensuring quality standards are met. Will typically supervise the work of more junior engineers, technicians and sub contractors.
" Competent at producing technical reports. Confident at providing short technical presentations to peers, senior managers, team members and to customer's.
" Presents themselves in a professional manner and is confident to represent the company's interests in front of customers and suppliers.
" Plays key role in defining process and procedures and ensures compliance to policies and guidelines by more junior team members.
" To be aware of the relevant RF Hazard, Health and safety legislation (ICNIRP) and the associated practical issues. To consider these issues when designing, proposing and planning the implementation of new antenna systems.
" To liaise with the supply chain, assist with Antenna Systems tender preparation and evaluation.
" To be familiar with Customers requirements to maintain service during antenna installation works and assist with implementation planning with the objective of minimising disruption to these customers.
" A self motivated team player who can maintain effective working relationships and communication both internally and externally with suppliers and clients to ensure that the delivery of agreed systems is seamless and efficient.
" To liaise with Supply Chain and Suppliers sustaining good relationships with a core of high quality specialist suppliers.
