Applications Engineer - CMP Fremont-CA, USA $80-110,000 + bens
This is an opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join an expanding engineering company in the USA. My client is involved with the design and development of sophisticated automated testing systems for the electronics manufacturing and CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) industry. They require an applications engineer with a strong process and CMP engineering background and broad knowledge in inspection and cleaning systems to join the team and aid with the development of new and existing systems.
The Applications Engineer is responsible for characterisation, alpha / beta testing and pilot tools as well as managing customer demonstrations and head-to-head (H2H) activities at customer facilities. You will work closely with the engineering and technology teams to develop and execute test plans related to new product development and launch and will be responsible for the company's inspection and cleaning systems.
The ideal candidate would be a graduate calibre engineer with proven process engineer / applications engineering ability gained from within a hi-technology equipment company. Knowledge of capital equipment / semiconductor machinery would be useful but is not essential. The role is focused on developing processes rather than the machinery.

" Manage projects related to new product introduction (NPI): product characterization, qualification and launch as well as customer demonstrations
" Generate best known method documents and other training material and deliver training (internal / external)
" Work closely with internal teams including engineering, technology, sales and marketing, as well as with external customer engineers.
Knowledge/Skills
" Candidates should be degree qualified in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or related fields (may consider electronics or mechanical engineering)
" Candidates will have a proven knowledge of Chemical Mechanical Polishing and defect inspection (optical) and deposition within a Semiconductor or related field and have a strong understanding of inspection equipment such as particle detections, profilometers and microscope (light or SEM etc).
