Description
Engineering Shift Team Leader
JOB PURPOSE
To provide effective leadership of the engineering shift team, be the first point of contact for all engineering related issues to ensure maximum uptime. Ensure all engineering activities are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner and be the key coordinator of shift engineering resource. Delivery of team KPI targets, and ensuring that Planned Preventative Maintenance activities are run in an effective manner.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
" Contribute to and assist in the implementation of improvement plans agreed with Engineering Manager and Chief Engineer
" To assist the engineering department in achieving its targets through efficient use of materials and replacement parts
" Take ownership of the PPM system and ensure effective use of resource to deliver 100% adherence to schedule against the PPM schedule
" Effective time management and prioritisation of activities
" Undertake direct line management of your engineering shift team including Lead Engineer and Shift Engineers
" Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the site
" Undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment and refrigeration plant
" To assist in the specification and installation of new equipment for the site
" To develop and improve the knowledge and skills of apprentice engineers.
" To ensure supervision and safe operating procedures for visiting contractors
" To maintain Health & Safety rules and regulations and ensure all Safe Systems of Work are signed off and complied with
KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS
Essential
" HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering Discipline or 10 years equivalent relevant proven background
" Experience of chilled food manufacturing environment
" Significant Trouble shooting and fault finding diagnostics and resolution experience
" Proven ability of line management of a team of engineers
Desirable
" FMCG / high volume work experience
" Refrigeration experience
" PLC programming
" Project work experience
