SENIOR ENGINEER - CHASSIS
Based: Warwickshire
Rate: £26-28p/h
Duration: 12 months
Job Purpose:
To support the design and release of anti-roll bars and damper assemblies for all product range.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Support the existing engineers in the design and release of all components within the anti-roll bar assemblies and damper assemblies.
Support design activities for CAD designers.
Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
Work with suppliers to design and develop components and systems to meet all specified requirements such as: weight, cost, durability, and performance targets.
Analyse the suitability of ¡¥parts bin¡¦ components and identify whether new or modified designs are required.
Manage suppliers to ensure parts are delivered on time to the required quality standard.
Work closely with Manufacturing and Launch to enable swift and accurate fitment of components to vehicles.
Work with Vehicle Dynamics to meet attribute targets and achieve freeze dates.
Control design verification and sign-off reporting.
Support vehicle tests with components where required.
Provide designs and components for concept cars and early prototype build phases
Participate in Failure Mode Avoidance activities ¡V DFMEAs, quality history reviews, robustness studies etc.
Qualifications and Skills:
Engineering degree in appropriate discipline is essential.
Previous background within an automotive or automotive components supplier group
Knowledge of suspension systems and their function.
Component engineering background.
Some use of NX CAD system would be useful.
Strong interest in Vehicle Dynamics desirable.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
Prepared to manage suppliers both in UK and abroad.
Rig test environment experience desirable.
Proven problem solving abilities.
