Description
Our Client is the world's largest manufacturer of turbochargers for the medium-heavy duty diesel engines market and has a reputation for bringing innovative solutions to the specific product requirements of this key market sector.
They are seeking a Project/Component Engineer(s) to further compliment the organisation on a permanent basis.
Job Title: Project Engineer/Component Engineer
Overview:
The Project/Component Engineer will be contributing to design, development validation (through analytical and physical testing) for assigned components for new products, drawing on specialist skill group support as needed. Core member of the program team, Reporting to an Engineering Manager, Group Leader or Senior Engineer. This position gives the incumbent the opportunity to contribute to the design & release process for assigned component(s) from concept to production; responsible for all aspects of form, structure, functional performance, quality, durability, reliability, cost and project timing.
Main Duties:
- Support pre-concept and pre contract development of program scope and boundaries Contributing to the design & validation of turbocharger components
- Generate designs meeting technical specification and satisfying customer and market requirements
- Work in a cross functional teams with supply chain, manufacturing and purchasing to meet project objectives
- Plan and execute all assigned tasks in line with established project timing, working with assigned component suppliers to ensure part cost, quality and sample part delivery timing objectives are met.
- Participate in the DFMEA team process and support the PFMEA team for assigned components and assemblies
- Ensure completion of DVP&R tasks and pre & post launch issue & failure resolution processes, using appropriate tools and reporting results & achieve resolution
- Follow ESW to ensure components meet corporate standards
- Utilise Six-Sigma tools to support on-going design cost efficiency improvements for assigned components / assemblies (pre & post-launch) and to deliver superior products
- Prepare material for and support design reviews for assigned components & assemblies
- Liaise with Supplier(s), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Testing, and Applications / Service groups to ensure efficient product design that meets customer needs.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering
- Design for Six Sigma (Green belt)
- Strong mathematical knowledge
- IT Skills - MS Office Applications, Lotus Notes database systems would be ideal, ProE & CAE skills
Salary: £25K - £36K depending on level of proven ability
