Powertrain Engineering Technical Expert taking technical lead for engine test programmes and supporting engine test facility
Engine Test Facility Technical Support
Technical expert in engine test processes and legislation
Commercial awareness to ensure opportunities are identified and developed with focus on future investment plan requirements
Liaise with customers, suppliers and engineering teams
Support of department Health & Safety and Quality
PROMOTION PROSPECTS Senior Engineer subject to department growth
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum HND or equivalent with relevant experience to degree level candidates.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS Degree or equivalent
Understanding the role of engine management systems.
Familiarity with sensor technologies commonly used on automotive diesel and gasoline engines, e.g. MAF, MAP, Lambda, angular position/speed.
Familiarity with actuator technologies.
Practical troubleshooting and fault finding skills with EMS systems
Awareness of EMS strategies used in engine management
Understanding of real-world engine behaviours
Practical experience in the calibration of EMS features
An ability to comprehend EMS strategy manuals
Practical proven ability in the use of the INCA calibration aid
Practical proven ability in the set-up of new sensor inputs to INCA
Practical proven ability of interfacing INCA and ATI-Vision via ASAP3 to test cell controller
Awareness of automotive emission control technologies used in exhaust gas aftertreatment e.g. 3-way catalyst, oxidation catalyst, LNT, SCR, DPF
Familiarity with test cell facility plant and its operation and maintenance including: fuel farm, raw water cooling systems, air handling and ventilation, chiller units and combustion air handling, dynamometer types (absorption, motoring) and operation.
Practical proven ability of test bed PID control
Practical proven ability of test cell measurement technologies
Practical proven ability of test bed data acquisition systems
Practical proven ability of fast data acquisition systems
PREFERED
Powertrain Engineering proven ability. Knowledge and experience of emissions and OBD requirements in engine management. Knowledge and proven ability of powertrain system development, calibration and testing.
Coding proven ability in Visual Basic for Cadet User Functions

Writing or assisting in preparation of programme quotations.
