Mechanical Engineering Manager - Turbomachinery Location: Hampshire Salary: £50-60k + benefits

Our client offers world class technical expertise in Compact Turbomachinery, high efficiency electrical machines and Software controlled power management systems. They are working with a number of world class engine manufacturers to bring this technology to market and sue to a large increase in exhaust energy recovery system projects they are seeking a new Mechanical Design Engineering Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.

Main Duties:
- Develop and manage a team of engineers and designers that collectively look after all the mechanical aspects of the company's products from concept design through prototype manufacture, assembly, testing, cost reduction and on to volume manufacture
- Work closely with suppliers on production processes with hands on support with new builds, stress and thermal analysis and DFM/DFA
- Develop close working relationships with clients to establish requirements and ensure the smooth and timely delivery of projects from requirement capture to production
- Alongside the Engineer Director implement engineering management best practice compatible with ISO9001 & TS16 949 and drive new projects within the business

Skills/Qualifications

- Candidates should posses excellent Engineering, management and decision making skills (including resolving technical conflicts, building teams and liaising with clients)
- Chartered Engineer or Degree qualified in Mechanical, Automotive or Power Engineering etc
- Proven knowledge in Mechanical Design Engineering for the development of High Speed rotating machines/turbochargers/generators/engines etc
- Good understanding of the various manufacturing processes including sand casting, investment casting, DISA casting, machining, plastic injection moulding and extruding etc
- Proven knowledge of materials selection and effects of temperature on material properties (Superalloys such as Inconel etc)
- Strong Project Management and Planning skills for technical delivery and resources for individual projects.
