Description
Electronics EMC Test Engineer Warwickshire, Midlands £14.50 ph LTD
This is a new opportunity for a proven EMC engineer or graduate calibre electronics engineer / physicist to join an expanding engineering consultancy that works within the automotive, aerospace and military domain. The company is investing in growth and new facilities and is looking to expand a number of teams and capabilities throughout the organisation.
As an EMC Engineer you will be required to undertake EMC testing within the component test and vehicle test laboratories. This will involve performing EMC testing for radiated emissions and radiated susceptibility within the laboratories (due to the nature of the projects this will involve working on shifts 6am - 2pm or 2pm - 10pm)
Typically EMC / Test Engineers work on vehicle programmes (e.g. passenger car, commercial vehicle, construction machine, military vehicles etc) or component testing (wiring / electrical harness, battery, power systems, HVAC, infotainment etc). Progression and training opportunities are good and typically the majority of EMC consultants within the organisation start off as test engineers.
You will work within and support a variety of multi-disciplined matrix managed projects and programmes across the company typically involving major automotive OEMs, F1 / motorsport, military vehicles, UGVs, and also Rail and Aerospace too.
The ideal candidate would have an electronics / electrical engineering or physics background and would most likely be working as an electronics test engineer within the automotive industry or working as a test engineer at an EMC test laboratory. Exposure to Automotive electronics and vehicle systems would be an advantage. Talented graduate calibre engineers need not have practical EMC exposure but should be passionate about learning this subject.
Skills / Knowledge Required:
o A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical engineering, electronics, physics, automotive engineering, communications engineering, etc)
o Good communication skills (written and verbal)
o Flexible, adaptable with a good team player mentality (able to work shifts)
o Practical electronics / electrical test knowledge would be useful
o Knowledge of the design, development and validation cycles of product / systems
Others (beneficial):
o Proven electronics test ability (component test / fault find)
o An understanding of EMC and relevant industry standards would be useful
o Knowledge or a genuine enthusiasm towards automotive products (vehicle, system and components) would be preferred
o Ideally the candidate would have worked in an engineering company (automotive OEMS or within an OEM/ Tier 1 in a similar position) or perhaps within a suitable test house
Graduate engineers with an electronics degree coupled with strong academic EMC knowledge or practical application of EMC knowledge, to specific EMC projects (i.e. test or design against EMC specifications), would be of great interest
Rates may be reviewed periodically based upon individual performance and knowledge
The location of work is commutable from Rugby, Coventry, Tamworth, Birmingham and Leicester
