A leading Engine/Turbo manufacturer seeking a Component Group Leader to join them on a permanent basis.

Title: Component Group Leader

Reporting to an Engineering Manager, the Group Leader is responsible for design, development, validation (through analytical and physical testing) and sign off for assigned components for new products, leading a group of Component Engineers, contributing specialist skills, and drawing on other specialist skill group support as needed. The engineers reporting to the group leader may be dispersed globally to deliver projects to appropriate global markets.

Main Duties:
- Lead in pre-concept and pre contract sub system development in support of program scope and boundaries supporting the cascade of outline program targets into sub system objectives, generating component and system designs which meet technical specification and satisfying customer / market requirements
- Complete design and validation of assigned turbocharger subsystem and lead, monitor and integrate the work of subsystem component engineers
- Work in a cross functional team with supply chain, manufacturing and purchasing to meet project objectives and ensuring part cost, quality and sample part delivery timing objectives are met.
- Lead the DFMEA team process and participate in the PFMEA team for assigned components and assemblies.
- Ensure successful completion of DVP&R tasks and report results and develop analysis and test processes to meet application specific requirements
- Lead complex pre and post launch issue and failure resolution processes, using appropriate tools. - Report results and achieve resolution concurrence.
- Lead on-going design cost efficiency improvements for assigned components/ assemblies ( pre and post launch) using the appropriate tools including Six Sigma
- Prepare material for and support design reviews for assigned components and assemblies
- Follow ESW to ensure components meet corporate standards. Propose and obtain agreement to ESW enhancements as required
- Supervise and guide Component Engineers (5-8) in skills development, and to integrate component designs into final product.

Education/Requirements
- Degree level qualified in Mechanical, Automotive engineering or equivalent. Chartered Engineer Status would be an advantage
- Significant experience within the automotive OEM or component industry with diesel engines and/or turbochargers. Experience with VG Control Systems & Actuators an advantage.
- Leadership skills appropriate to co-ordination of a potentially dispersed team.
- IT Skills- Microsoft Office Applications, Lotus Notes database
- Pro-E and CAE skills would be an advantage

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £42k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits Package
