Description
Principal Mechanical Design Engineer / Analyst- Optical Systems Location: Kent Up to £40K
Our client is a major player in the satellite industry and they have a major resource based in Kent which is dedicated to the design of Optical payloads. They now seek to strengthen the group's mechanical engineering capability by recruiting a full lifecycle Mechanical Design Engineer /Analyst who will be working on the Integration and packaging of optical instrumentation from concept through to production.
Responsibilities
" Work within the Opto-Mechanical systems team and with members of the Optical, Electronic and Project teams to develop robust designs for optical system manufacture and operation
" Opto-mechanical system design, from initial system concept to meet customer requirements through to detailed final design using 3D modelling tools
" Subsystem requirements definition, specification and interface management with clients and internal peers
" Complete manufacturing drawings and Plan test campaigns, conduct / manage tests, analyse and present results
" Undertake structural and thermal analysis at component and system level including hand calculations or computer simulations.
Skills/Qualification
Candidates should be degree qualified in Mechanical/Electromechanical/Optomechanical Engineering etc (BEng/MEng/BSc/MSc)
Demonstrable relevant mechanical/Optomechanical design, preferably in the high performance optics industry (space, astronomy or defence etc)
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high knowledge of Precision mechanical engineering for Integrating and packaging optics into harsh environments- Space/Aerospace/Defence etc
Competent in FEA, Thermal, Structural, Vibration and Stress analysis from first principals and the packages (ANSYS, Patran/Nastran or similar)
Excellent use of CAD Software (Solid Works or Similar)
