Our client is a world leader in the development of satellites and associated systems. They have a role for a Power Team Leader based in their Guildford office as a result of a very healthy order book!
Key Purpose of Job
To ensure and manage the delivery of the Power team’s output. The Power team are responsible for supporting the design, production and test of power systems and associated test hardware on spacecraft and subsystems.
Responsible For
The output of the Power team: meeting financial/resources, quality and technical
requirements.
Key Tasks ·
Ensure effective plans are in place to deliver all work and work packages, to
the appropriate quality level, within project budget and schedule constraints
· Ensure team level policies and procedures are in place to allow consistent
and coherent team output, in line with the client approach to Engineering as
defined in the White Paper
· Ensure the team has the skills required to deliver current & future projects in
line with the business plan and there is a viable plan in place to retain &
develop team members with a particular view to succession planning and
single point failures.
· Ensure that all the WPM’s in the team meet their requirements of their
WPD’s, and that their plans are valid, achievable and coherent with the clients
working practices.
· Ensure that the WPM’s follow ‘best practice’ in the execution of their work;
review trend charts and take corrective action if necessary
· Work with the PM’s, Group leaders and other TL’s etc. to identify and resolve
any resource conflicts or problems before they impact upon project progress.
· Lead the resolution of key issues in conjunction with the Group Leader.
· Develop, train and mentor team members, ensuring the team remain current
in their areas of technical excellence.
· Risks are identified, managed and communicated to the Group Leader and
Projects.
· Support bidding activities as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (essential requirements)
Experience
· Demonstrable experience in analogue/power electronics role gained within spacecraft power electronics or aerospace / defence / automotive industry. Proven engineering experience within a matrix structure.
· Demonstrable line management experience.
Knowledge & Skills
· Good all round technical knowledge
· Thorough understanding of analogue and power electronics.
· Excellent communication skills
· Commitment to deliver
· Desire to support and guide others
· Good inter-personal skills
· Well organised and good planning skills.
